Today’s style diary post is about my love for both pastel shades, nudes and pleating. I’ve loved these ‘trends’ for years but its always nice when something you love comes back in style. I cannot explain to you how much I vehemently adore pastel shades, It reminds me of Cher from Clueless in the 90’s, another personal favorite era along with America in the fifties. Pastel shades exude luxury to me, they are a pop of color that is soft, girly yet womanly all in one take. These shades are classic without being lackluster, which suit women of all skin tones especially olive to dark skin. I took these random shots on Mount Street, which is one of my favorite streets for shopping in London. Its low key luxury as sometimes Knightsbridge and Oxford street can get a tad too much on occasions and before you know it, claustrophobia kicks in with a hint of misanthropy. I hate a rubbish shopping experience. I often come down here for the super exclusive Goyard store, there is a Christian Louboutin and Giuseppe Zanotti store nearby so it’s lovely to stroll along here with a few girlfriends. Gianvito Rossi is a big love at the moment and they have a store here too. Some people love the fifth gear notion in London where everything is super fast all the time but sometimes its pleasant to have a different atmosphere depending on your mood. I also stopped into the Connaught with Sharmane (my sister) for a few drinks and a coffee and is a great luxury spot to come by after a ‘hard workout’ of shopping.
This dress allowed me to channel my inner Jackie O, and for the whole day I felt like a first lady, it was elegant and with spring emerging in London its time to celebrate! On that political note, it’s going crazy for the elections stateside and in London for that matter, its like everything is turning on its head; The UK’s first referendum since 1972 and Donald Trump could very well be living in the White house, Pandemonium! Anyway, back to fashion, everyone has different taste that is a fact, however, there is nothing wrong with channeling your versatility and changing up your looks every so often. Some people may think this dress is ageing and that I should be wearing an ensemble more fun and show more flesh; that’s all well and good but maybe its ok to look more refined here and there. Modesty is a wonderful thing and pushing up your cleavage in a bodycon dress is so Kim Kardashian in like 2006. The moral of the story is, be bold and daring enough to change your looks every so often. The beauty of fashion is that there are so many different styles and themes to chose from, so knock yourself out!
