The Maldives really did live up to the post card dream. We had the pleasure of staying in the wonderful Four seasons, Kuda Huraa resort. Our water villa really was sublime. The private pool attached looking over the light crystal turquoise waters was EPIC. The room was a mini suite, installed with the latest technology and a walk in wardrobe. Another amazing attribute to the place had to be the customer service, it was impeccable.
It was the first time for me in the Maldives and from seeing so many various Instagram photos I knew it would be beautiful but I didn’t know quite what to expect. A lot of bloggers frequent the islands and so many photo’s were flickering in my mind. All the resorts seem very different to each other so even if you came back, there are other spectacular resorts to visit too. When I return I really want to visit Four seasons, Landaa Giraavara, which is another one of their resorts.
The boat ride to the island was a little nauseating for me as the waves were particularly choppy, it had been raining. I was particularly apprehensive it would rain during the whole visit due to reading every weather app I could find on the internet! It was very unpredictable, but it turned out great. Some days were more perfect than others., either way we were blessed as we managed to escape the rain during our visit. The best time to visit according to the staff is January, February time.
There are so many activities that we did whilst we were out there and it really is a beautiful place to catch up with an amazing book. The four seasons provided great literacy material in our villa which was great. I have to say I highly recommend Margaret Atwood, a fantastic writer.
The best activity for us was the cooking class with the head chef on the island, we really did learn a lot! We cooked lobster biryani, Tandoori prawns, raita, chicken and vegetable curry and Saffron rice. I have vlogged all of this and I am excited to show you guys.
The wildlife surrounding the water villas left us in awe as we walked along the wooden decking. Observing sting rays and baby sharks in their natural habitat which felt organic and how life should really be, no emails, no work, just exploring and appreciating God’s work.
My favourite moment as simplistic as it is, was our last night when we ordered the candlelight in room dining. The table was set up outside overlooking the sunset. I ordered shish chicken kebabs with saffron rice and mint sauce, which felt like eating my mothers cooking. Clinking Champagne glasses whilst looking out to the beautiful ocean, it was a moment I will never forget.
