I hope you guys have had a wonderful Christmas and have thoroughly enjoyed the holidays. Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year along with hot summers. I love the heat of summer, ice cream, tanning, long walks and writing in Hyde Park with peach ice tea. However, nothing compares to the holidays and the essence of Christmas, which I feel many people take for granted. I appreciated the holidays more this year and realized the wonderful people I have in my life. I was lucky enough to be treated to the lovely Manor at western on the green. It was a wonderful holiday feel and even without the holidays being the center front, this place is still picturesque and especially delightful if you live in the city. The decor was luxury British and homely. It was very colonial and the gardens were immaculately kept, the hedges were trimmed to perfection (my inner OCD notices everything)
The Manor is located in Weston-on-the-Green, a delightful Oxfordshire village and only five minutes from Bicester Village, Blenheim Palace, Kirtlington Park Polo Club, and many other attractions
I felt as if the hotel was my own home and I could readily explore the house and gardens. What I think is even cooler is that in the summer one can even enjoy a glass of Pimms on their terrace and play a game of croquet! Not only can you enjoy a relaxing swim, you can also catch up with some fitness downtime on their tennis ground, then go to dinner in their exquisite Georgian dining room. I adore the fact that they are canine friendly (I have a Rottweiler), so it’s fabulous that I am free to take my dog around for a leisurely stroll in their glorious grounds which I will be doing for sure in the summer!
My partner is a surgeon, so I don’t get to see him as much, so this place was a wonderful change in environment for both of us. He took me here before we went Christmas shopping in the haven that is Bicester Village. I adore Bicester village with Celine, Balenciaga, Dior, Prada, Givenchy and Dolce, plus way more, falling all under one complex at discounted rates sends my mind into overdrive. All I can envision is shopping bags, loads of shopping bags in my beady eyes that I have to later accommodate in my wonderfully bulging wardrobe, Does this stop me? No, of course it doesn’t.
The manor was very close by and we got to the village with the ease. This place is incredibly romantic. The dinner was great and the champagne recommended by the sommelier was a great start and end to the evening. We stayed in the suite and it was an exquisitely presented room. My view from the window (as seen above) was striking, the green hues from the gardens just stood out and it really felt like my back garden, it truly was serene. The whole setting reminded me of Alice and wonderland, the perfect fairytale escape. For the best suite, I recommend number seven. I highly recommend the stay with the experience of shopping at any time of the year.
Happy New Year to all of you, I truly hope you all aspire to what you want to achieve this year and if you don’t, there is always the year after that to get it right!
Carpe Diem, Mermaids and Mermen
Much love and holiday wishes,
Sasha
