I have chosen to talk about the ultimate princess shoe, the prized Manolo Blahnik, the holy grail of the fashion shoe, breaking women’s balances since 1987 whilst putting heart shaped emoji’s in their big beady eyes. Although they have increased in price over the years, the classic designs never go out of style and are a great investment. I have adored this brand since I was in my teens but didn’t purchase them until my early twenties. I would secretly watch Carrie from sex and the city, watching her covet and prize her precious Manolo’s like jewels. During the noughties, I must have been around 13-14 and I was instantly allured by these women where I was a mere girl, trying to learn. They influenced a great deal dating, career, enormously about fashion and how it was supposed to be taken seriously. These ladies were sassy and full of substance.
The premise of the show centered around an expensive wardrobe in the midst of romance and dreams within the huzz buzz of the big apple. Carrie’s endless love for Manolos was a forefront of one of the most famous lead screen female show of all time. Nostalgia inflicts me every time I flick TV channels and stumble across re-runs airing on comedy central; I can’t help but watch the same episode again for the trillionth time. Her biggest Manolo moment was when she was tying the knot with the infamous Mr Big. I personally wasn’t a fan of him in the slightest but Carrie truly loved him and I guess that’s all that mattered. Mr big proposed to her whilst placing the royal blue satin encrusted hangisi pump which have since become one of the most coveted pairs of shoes of all time.
Just when big was redeeming himself by finally proposing to our Carrie, he leaves her crushed at the altar all alone; Yes I was raging inside, all I could think about was guns, large guns. Mr Bigs alluring talk and the spellbinding magic of the Manolos manage to reunite them together again. Style icon and fashion princess Olivia Palermo also tied the knot in them for real which I thought was a great homage to the brand and one of the most popular shows of all time.
I bought the lilac purple hangisi as I thought these were the most versatile colour and at the time all of the other colours had been sold out. These stunning lilac pair had totally captured my eye, they were unique and I had never seen them in this color. I was lucky enough to snag my size in euro 36, as all sizes were sold old. What Is phenomenal about this brand is that still after so many years women everywhere are still buying them and will always be a timeless style which will be adorned for many years. I love wearing them with my lady Dior as it has silver hardware and matches perfectly with the encrusted signature buckle. As you can see my jeans are ripped and I’m wearing the glitter ensemble from Topshop, concurring that Manolos can literally be worn with everything and still give a girl that glamorous edge.
To conclude, I’ll never forget this signature line of Carrie
I’ve spent 40,000 dollars on shoes and no place to live
